Deniz Perin received an MFA in Poetry from SDSU in 2007. Her work and translations have appeared in various national and international literary journals, including Poetry International, Atlanta Review, The New Review of Literature, Transcript, Words Without Borders, and many others. She has been finalist for a number of poetry competitions, and in 2007 she received the Anna Akhmatova Fellowship for Younger Translators. Her translations of poet Nazim Hikmet’s work are anthologized in the Ecco Book of International Poetry. Book of the Edge, her translation from the Turkish of Ece Temelkuran’s poetry collection, was released in July 2010 by BOA Editions, as part of the Lannan Translations Selection Series. It has since been listed in the Montserrat Review’s Best Books for Summer Reading 2010, as well as in the July/August 2010 issue of Poets & Writers’ “Page One: Where New And Noteworthy Books Begin.”
